Throttle/Accelerator Cable

Fits and works, but cheap part. Per NPD (Richard Smidt) these are the only ones available these days. It's not a motorcraft part don't let the OEM numbers fool you. Can easily get same part at local parts store for same price without the wait. It's a pioneer ca-8459 better off going to a wrecking yard and getting real part.

Notes: The OEM numbers are intended for cross-reference and assistance, and do not in any way imply original Ford or Motorcraft parts (which are obsolete for this application). As far as price, considering that you have to pay sales tax when you buy locally, I find that our price-plus-shipping is right on-par with what you would pay locally, not to mention any other specialized truck parts that we would have that local outlets would not. Lastly, we have never had any returns or failures on this brand of cable. They have performed well. Rick, NPD.

This throttle cable is 3/16 of an inch too short from the ball stud to the mounting bracket on the engine. The boss that is supposed line up the clip on cruse control is 1/8 inch to far forward and I had to trim it off to get it to fit and use a fuel line clamp to hold it in place. I had to drill the mounting bracket bolt holes from 5/16, stock size to 3/8 to get the cable to fit on the ball stud and not pulling the throttle part of the way open.

We have a 1988 F150 in our collection with 240 original miles from new, 5.0L fuel injected automatic. We removed the factory throttle cable, and installed this F-9A758-10 throttle cable, and found none of the issues whatsoever that are detailed in this review. It was a direct and perfect installation, and installed properly with the cruise control cable.
