LH rotation is typically used on 4sM/T’s and RH rotation is used in all others (A/T, T-5, TK, 3sM/T, etc). Transmissions with the speedo cable hole on the drivers (LH) side typically use RH rotation gears. Transmissions with the speedo cable hole on the passenger (RH) side typically use LH rotation gears. See 17292-1, 17292-1A for retainer clip options.

Had to cut down the nub as it was too long for my stock 3 spd manual, but works fine otherwise. Corrected my speedo for swap from 3.20 to (I think) 3.73 rear end

My speedometer was bouncing and after checking things over I found that the gear in the tranny had worn where the cable fits. The cable fits snug in this new gear and it seems well made. My speedo is now working fine.
