LOOP, SPARE TIRE BOLT

This is a cool part but a little hard to find becaue most of the tire the Web sites and Muscle Car shops think that you are looking for the 1966 Mustang Spare Tire Hold Down Kit when what you really want, and need, is the Spare Tire Mounting Bracket. Some say it is "Loop Style" and it is and it uses a hook to go under the hoop. Also, I believe that the 65 Mustangs had this style also but the 64 1/2's had a Spare Tire Mounting Bracket that was different. It has the carriage bolt which slides in. My older brother had a 64 1/4 GT Coup. He had that car for 25 years until right before he passed away. Nothing sad except missing spending time suffering together doing Stanger work. I would not have it any other way. I am sorry for straying. Best price by $10 but hit me on the shipping. Lots of Mustangs get hit in the rear over 50 years and when the trunk is replaced it is never expected that this part will be included. It is a spot weld or straight weld and although it is not over the gas tank and is actually raised up I am still a little nervous. Home Depot still sells a welding heat sheild blanked but I am not sure how I would use it. I am hard core about keeping it original but in this case, if you cannot weld and are nervous about having a happy Mustang related explosion death, then you could recommend, or put, four holds in this part so that you could drill and bolt it on. You do not have to have a welder or know how to weld. Including the stainless steel bolts and lock nuts with a rubber washer to keep water from getting into the trunk for another $5 would be cool. Also, I see questions about where it is mounted. It would be nice to have instructions and diagrams on that also. My brother's Stang is a 66 convertible with a 302, disk,..., it is nice and this is his birthday present. I already have the hold down kit. It is a little more important for him because he is in a wheelchair, so the car has hand controls, and if the spare tire is not held over to the right so that the chair can be folded and seat into the drop down in the trunk, it will not load. I swear it is like a Rubics cube and everyone that tried it for years failed. It fits one way and it only fits if the tire is pushed over. Your part will help with that so thank you! My dad has a 66 also so you will probably hear from me again. His is a coup. I hope this part costs you one penny to make and it is all profit. Well, IE 11 finally installed so I can read my email. Have a great day! Seeya, Chris, Stanger Man
