Originally curved to clear the Shelby oval air cleaner the curved version also provides convenient clearance to the distributor cap simplifying maintenance chores. The Monte Carlo bar was originally added to the Monte Carlo raced Falcons and later the 1964 Monte Carlo Mustangs to further reinforce the shock towers by triangulating the support in conjunction with the one piece export brace. The bar keeps the shock towers from collapsing inward and keeps camber adjustments more consistent. When you install this bar you may notice that the bar will not fit in between the aprons. This is due to the shock tower and aprons flexing inward. It may be necessary to spread the shock towers outward to fit the brace and return the towers to their original designed position. Make sure to check your front end alignment after installation. Each side bracket has 4 mounting holes, 3 of which are existing holes. Top holes are squared for use with original bolts or lower profile carriage bolts for a custom look.

My car is an oddball, and the bar was a little too wide. So I wound up sectioning about 1/4" out of it and welding it back up. After finishing and painting, it is a perfect fit. It's not the manufacturer's fault, as I also had to shorten the straight bar I had. I went to the curved bar because it was a huge pain to remove plug wires, not to mention the distributor cap. Think about this before you make your purchase. I'm covered either way now. :)

Very nice part. With these, you fit the car to the part so to speak. You may find it is tight or won’t fit. If so, it’s because your shock towers have sagged inward. That could be just mileage or a previous accident. Mine towers were about 1/16” too narrow but I was able to locate mine with the gentle help of a mallet. Other remedies are on the internet.

Fit great, bolt holes lined up exactly how they should have. If this piece doesn't fit your car I promise you it isn't the part it's your car. These shock towers sag over time. 2 days with a jackstand under my front cross member and the Monte carlo car dropped right into place.
