The clips were larger and heavier duty than the ones that came with the trim. However the acorn nuts were smaller than the posts! I ended up using the nuts from the old trim clips that fit well.

This mounting kit for the hood molding worked great for my 1969. They are definitely sturdy and a lot better than the ones that come with the more affordable repro (Item # 16856-3A). The only way the clips fit into that molding was having the spring part pointing towards the bottom of the molding. Not sure if I did it exactly right, but I held the molding up against the hood and marked with a sharpie the approx. location for the clip. Once you put them into the molding, they don't move too easy. The acorn nuts ARE large but I was able to get them started with my fingers but finished with 7/16" to snug them up. It has the washer on the underside of the acorn nut, so you're pretty much good to go.

Again, these parts were shipped in a crushed box but are small and received no damage. I haven’t used them yet because the hood molding support piece was damaged. However, a test fit on the hood trim looks like it’s going to be a good fit.
