Description

Pump only - no reservoir. 5/8" diameter rear male pressure port fitting. Note this pump features a return line fitting that is centered on the back fo the reservoir. Modern design and components provide for quieter and smoother operation, HBA-BF, HBA-BF1, HBA-BK. New Ford Power Steering Pumps are engineered to OE specifications. Upgraded to slipper style internals for quiet operation. All units are carefully packaged to insure safe arrival at your door. Backed with a limited lifetime manufacturers warranty.

Please note that it is a good idea to support the reservoir retainer nut while tightening the pressure hose to the pump. Although the manufacturer has made internal changes to make the likely hood of tearing the inner seal less common. It is still a good practice to to support the nut to prevent the motor from shifting inside the housing and ensure a good tight fluid seal .

**You must flush the PS system anytime components are replaced to eliminate any contamination and to validate manufacturers warranties. Many transmission fluids available on the market do not meet manufacturer minimum standards for friction, viscosity, corrosion or wear,  In fact Cardone, the largest supplier of rebuilt power steering components, has found the cause of many power steering related failures can be traced back to low quality fluid,  Don’t risk your restoration on a budget brand fluid. See 19582-2 for Motorcraft brand Type F fluid for use in vehicles that specify type F in the P/S system up to 1995. **

Power Steering Pump, Ford, new

Fit perfectly in my original pump housing. Works well and quietly. Pressing the pulley on was a challenge (VERY tight). It was difficult to get the fluid flowing through the system initially (I replaced everything--pump, control valve, power cylinder, and all hoses)--cranking the engine wasn't enough (I tried and tried and tried). I finally gave up and started the engine which got the fluid moving FAST and as soon it spurted out of the return line into my catch cup, I quickly shut off the engine, connected the return line, filled to my best guess (dipstick markings only apply to hot fluid), later sucked out the excess, and it's been working beautifully ever since!
