SENDING UNIT ASSY, FUEL TANK

After installing a new tank, this sending unit, new fuel pump, and rebuild of the original Autolite 1100, My mustang would not drive more than a mile without starving out for gas. This led to a complete rabbit hole on troubleshooting what was wrong. After relooking at the carb settings, replacing the tank to pump fuel line and 2 fuel pumps later, I decided to look at the only thing that was left. Yes, it was the brand new sending unit I installed. The little white sock-filter that was factory installed was jammed into the suction pipe so far, it would not allow good flow to the fuel pump. I was surprised I was getting any fuel at all. I couldnt even blow air through it. Good news is I was able to twist it back out a 1/4" to allow enough space for fuel to flow. I am giving it a 2 because I spent countless hours chasing this ghost down and trips to the auto parts store. The fuel level read on the gauge was perfect.
