SEAL, Shaker Scoop Base to Hood, w/o studs (glue-on design), GM Licensed reproduction
An accurate reproduction of the original glue-on shaker scoop to hood seal for 1977-1981 Pontiac Trans Am models. The shaker scoop to hood seals were originally glued in place by GM. Studs were not originally used on most production models, but were integrated by GM into service parts to facilitate a more durable installation (original seals could come unglued depending on weather / driving conditions), GM Licensed reproduction.
Restoration Note:
Glued in place seals are the concours-correct model for a perior-correct restoration. Studs were not originally used on most production models, but provide a more durable installation. See part number C-3410-246A for stud design seal.

This product would be prefect, if it was a little bit longer. When you buy it, it never says it will not fit to the edge of the shaker scoop. When you get the gasket, you get a picture of a shaker scoop with this gasket and it shows it does not cover the entire edge of the shaker scoop. Buyer beware

The notion that the seal should cover the entire edge of the shaker is false and incorrect. The picture of the shaker that we provide is of a 1979 Trans Am with only 77 original miles from new (see installation instructions linked on this page to see photo and instructions). The seal, and its orientation/relationship to the edge of the shaker, is precisely as-assembled by Pontiac at the factory.
Our seal is developed to perfectly replicate the original factory fit, and we provide the photo so that restorers can replicate original and do it right.
So I
hope this information gives you a bit more satisfaction with the seal. It is
correct. Gluing a seal to run flush with the outer edge of the shaker would be
incorrect.
