I purchased another a new one of these from anothere supplier and it didn't index the starter properly, which is the main function of these plates. While I did have to open the dowel holes a very small amount to get it to fit the block, it did correctly index the starter to the flywheel.

Purchased this for a T-5 conversion I did for my 65 Mustang 289. Dowel pin and main (6) bell housing bolts lined up perfectly but the bottom two small bolt holes did not. I had to enlarge those holes to get the bolts in. The starter placement (indexing) is off as well which has caused my starter to not engage properly. It will start the car but makes a loud shrieking sound as it cranks. Should have purchased the spacer from the company that provided the T-5 conversion kit or used my original. I didn’t use my original spacer b/c it was not in the best shape and needed to be stripped of paint completely. It sounds like this part is not consistently manufactured the same way each time. Apparently there are other manufactures of this part out there. Would be nice to see NPD do some research to find the best part available. I don’t think this one is it. I purchase most of my parts from NPD b/c in general, they do carry some of the best repro parts on the market or at least give you the opportunity to purchase concourse correct or a lower quality part if you have a Sunday fun car.

It’s nice, but I had to drill 3 bolts out to be bigger for it to work. So when you get it open up the guide hole on the passenger side, and the bottom two cover bolts.

It fits with persuasion. I had to ream out the guide pin holes and the bottom holes that attach it to the bellhousing. If I knew that before I would rate it higher, so maybe you (who buys this) will. Ream them out while its not sandwiched.
