Temperature Gauge

I just replaced my broken gauge with this one. The job is easy enough. In my case, I had to replace both the sending unit and gauge, but I would recommend testing the old gauge first before replacing. Test it by turning on the ignition and ground the wire that connects to the sending unit. If the gauge moves, don't replace. If it doesn't move, then replace it. NOTE: Use a buddy because a direct ground my supply too much current to a gauge. Just hold to ground for a second or so to see if it moves. The new gauge perfectly fits my instrument cluster. It was great to finally have a properly working gauge. Its a stock replacing and will work perfectly with existing wiring and sending unit. So no complaints there. However, I have 2 minor complaints: 1) First one isn't with the part itself. Now, I have 4 old worn, old looking gauges next to a new, clean one. Even the white text is brighter shade of white. For daily drivers like mine, that isn't a big deal, but if your restoring a car, you may want to consider swapping all gauges. 2) 2nd complaint is with the length of the needle. For some stupid reason, the needle is 1/4 inch too short. For the other 3 gauges, the needle is long enough to be flush with the horizontal measurement line. Same with factory temperature gauge that I replaced. However, for the new gauge, the needle is 1/4 inch above the line. I can't image how this was overlooked. Only a sharp eye would notice, but it looks crummy to me (I've driven this car for 30 years). If you want an "exact" match with factory, look somewhere else.
