These are usually left out of any replacement top but present on all original installations. Its purpose was to prevent a gap from forming between the rear window and the top. The pocket for this piece is present in some replacement tops (others have a strengthener built in) and can be installed with the finished top on the car although it is much easier to install with the top. Correct gauge galvanized steel cut to the correct original shape.
