This GT500 rear axle housing cover kit features the Ford Performance part number M-4033-KA and is designed to be a direct fit for your 1986 thru 2014 Mustang with a 8.8 rear axle. This unit was original equipment on 2013-2014 Mustang Shelby GT500 with the track pack option. This unit is designed to upgrade from the factory stamped steel unit and are recommended for road racing or extended high speed / high temperature applications to reduce gear oil break down. The cooling fins help reduce the gear oil temperature and allow for increased gear and bearing life. The cover is also machined for differential cooler pickup and return fittings 1/2-14 NPSF dryseal straight pipe threads. These fittings can be used for a external cooler or for fill and drain ports for easy fluid change. The cover is also machined for temp sensor with M10 x 1.6-6h threads. Each unit includes the correct mounting hardware needed for proper installation as well as the correct drain, fill and vent cover plugs. Installation Note:
Please check exterior clearance to chassis and suspension. This unit will not fit 8.8 IRS rear suspension. See NPD part number M-4033-125G for correct 99-04 Cobra IRS Axle Girdle cover.
Draining the rear differential will be required when installing this new Ford Performance unit. NPD offers a full line of high quality Motorcraft gear oil as well as the correct friction modifier need to get you back on the road.
Note:
This unit is designed does not included or use a factory style gasket. This unit according to Ford is designed to be used with silicone gasket maker. See NPD part numbers F-19562-1 or 910-7
