This Hurst manual shifter features the Ford Performance part number M-7210-M and is designed to be a direct fit for your 1979 thru 2001 Mustang with either a stock T-5 or T-45 manual transmission. These units are designed to create a super short throw all while having positive stops to prevent over travel. This unit is made from a one piece 6061-T6 aluminum CNC machined base. Each shifter includes a chrome stick and white knob as well as proper mounting hardware. -Fits T-5 and T-45 transmission. Does not fit Tremec 3650 transmission, 2001 and newer Mustang Cobra, Mustang Bullitt, and Mustang GT (3650 transmission has the drain plug in the bottom of the case)

Installation Note:
Please note that some 2001 GT Mustangs were available with two different transmissions. Ford had a mid year change over. Checking your transmission code on the driver side door jamb data sticker to see which code your 2001 GT has. "6" is a T45 transmission, "K" is a Tremec 3650. This will ensure you have the correct transmission for this shifter.
