The seat belts work as designed and are way better than the ones that just site there. The portion that retracts does have to sit perpendicular to the floor so that they'll fit next to the seat. I'm using standard seats and they fit well but don't allow that portion of the seat belt to rotate forward. This causes the belt to actually crease slightly but still works great.
